AC Site Evaluation Presentation

My site evaluation for my ambulatory care rotation was with professor Selisgon in which we discussed two H&Ps and reviewed drug cards in depth. Professor Selisgon did not want us to present our cases as they were written but more so to have a conversation about our patient. This style is something different from my usual site visits and it brought a friendly learning dynamic as it allowed questions to be asked as I presented. For my last patient we discussed the importance of ruling out a DVT, even if differentials most likely led to a patient having cellulitis of the lower extremity. Unilateral swelling and warmth in the calf area does not allow you to rule something like a DVT out and is an important differential to keep in mind.

Lastly, I presented my article which discussed a Chinese herbal remedy for cellulitis called Luhaidan. This research is ongoing but opened conversation about its uses for other inflammatory diseases such as acute pancreatitis. Overall I enjoyed my site visit with Professor Seligson as she allowed the visit to be open and free to any questions or concerns we had during our rotation.
